Our Story
The story of Regan
In 2010, while adopting their son, Owen, in Uganda, Josh and Courtney met a critically ill little boy named Regan at the same orphanage.
They were shocked to hear that Regan would likely die from pneumonia - an illness they saw treated regularly in the US. When Josh asked the orphanage nurse why he wouldn't get better, she told them that they couldn't get the antibiotic they needed to treat him. When they asked what the medication was and she replied "rocephin", they were all shocked. Josh just happened to grab 60 vials of roceph from the pediatric urgent care he worked for at the time. This medication was going to be thrown away because it was going to expire in a few months. God had bigger plans, and Regan got better fast once he got the medication he needed!
Watching Owen and Regan play outside together was one of the best sights they had ever seen, and they couldn't stop thinking about Regan. When they got home, Regan inspired them to continue to collect extra, unused, unneeded medical supplies to give to people who needed them.
By 2013, their efforts became Mission Regan, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Today, they serve locally and globally—whether it’s a hospital discharge in DFW or a shipping container headed overseas—all because of one little boy who almost didn’t survive.
